The theme: “Spelling bee” The aims: • to enlarge students’ vocabulary, to improve speaking, reading skills. • to develop students’ logical thinking, memory attention. • to develop students’ intercultural awareness, by using speaking and listening skills to solve problems creatively. Type of the lesson: a competition lesson Visual aids: interactive board, slides, short video. Organization moment. Good afternoon dear colleagues, contestants and students. Welcome to the “Spelling bee” contest. We are really glad to see you all here today. Today is an exciting day, to me, and my talented students from 8th grades, to show their knowledge of the English language. My Dear students, I know you’ll do your best I just want to wish all of you good luck! And let the Best to win the game. Before starting our contest, let me introduce the judges and the contestants. Duisen Almira – 8th “G” grade Contest rounds: 1 – round: is called “Spelling time”. 2-round: Break your tongue with tongue – twisters! 3-round: Word chain 4-round: Review with Kahoot.it. The Rules of competition: 1 – этап: is called “Spelling time”. Students will be given 10 words to spell. They’re allowed to ask questions as: Can you repeat the word, please? Which part of speech? Can you give me definition, please? Evaluation: For each correct answered word, they’ll get 1 point.

Ex.2 p.74. Gist listening. Checking comprehension. Answers: Lucy dislikes the picture because she thinks the face is a bit strange, as if a child painted it. Ex.3 p.74. Classifying phrases. “Who said these phrases?” Role-play. Students write the key phrases into their copybooks. Answers: Lucy says all the phrases. Ex.4 p.74.Conveying the meaning of new items. Blank-filling. Students will be given worksheets. Then they will read their answers turn by turn as in a dialogue. Answers: Look = see here, to pay attention. Looks = appears to be, to say how smth. appears in real. Look like = resemble, using this phrase we compare the thing with another thing.
